About Debt Defense Kit
I was a victim of debt collectors and the zombie debt cycle for years. I would get a call about a debt I didn't recognize. The voice on the other end was aggressive, certain, threatening. I would panic and pay. Six months later the same alleged debt would resurface with a different collector, a different reference number, the same script. I would panic and pay again. The cycle repeated for years.
Eventually I stopped. I sat down with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and my state's consumer protection statutes and read them line by line. I read court decisions interpreting them. I learned what validation actually requires, what counts as proper documentation, and what collectors are legally barred from doing. The next time a collector contacted me, I sent a letter instead of a payment. The next time after that, I sent a credit bureau dispute. The collections came off my reports. The calls stopped.
I built the Debt Defense Kit because nobody should have to live in that cycle. Knowing your rights under federal law shouldn't require a lawyer on retainer. Everyone deserves the dignity of dealing with collectors from a position of knowledge, not fear.
